Enryaku Ritual Book

Japanese: 延暦儀式帳 - えんりゃくぎしきちょう
Enryaku Ritual Book
It is also called "Ise Taijingu Rites," "Taijingu Rites," or "Taijingu Rites Book." It is a document written by the negi (priests) and ouchijin (people of the inner and outer shrines of Ise) in 804 (Enryaku 23), inspected by the Jingikan (Certificate Office for the Shinto Shrine), and submitted to the Daijokan (Great Council of State). It consists of two parts: the "Imperial Taijingu Rites Book" for the Inner Shrine, and the "Toyukegu Rites Book" for the Outer Shrine. Both are the oldest records related to Ise Shrine. The Kotai Jingu Ritual Book contains detailed records on 23 items, including the origins of the shrine's establishment, the buildings, the morning and evening offerings for the three festivals, the items used and costumes for the shrine's relocation, the shrine's relocation ceremonies, the shrines under its jurisdiction, the duties of the chief priests, inner circle members and monoimi officials, the history and management of the three sacred counties of Watarai, Taki and Iino, the offerings for the shrine's inspection and loading, offerings, and annual events. The Toyukimiya Ritual Book contains detailed records on nine items, including the origins of the shrine's establishment, the buildings, the morning and evening offerings, the items used and costumes for the shrine's relocation, the shrine's relocation ceremonies, the shrines under its jurisdiction, the duties of the chief priests, inner circle members and monoimi officials, and annual events.
