A terrestrial orchid (illustration) that grows in mountainous areas from cool temperate to subarctic zones. It resembles the Japanese quince in that the flowers are biased to one side and its color, but it is more distantly related. It has a spherical tuberous root. Two leaves develop in a rosette shape near the surface of the ground. The flower stalk is 10-20cm long, and in July-August, it produces about 10 pale pink flowers biased to one side. The flowers are about 5mm in diameter, with helmet-shaped sepals and petals. The lip is 1cm long and has 3 deep lobes. It has a 7-8mm spur that curves forward. 冷温帯から亜寒帯の山地に生える地生ラン(イラスト)。花が片側にかたよってつく点および花の色がモジズリに似ているが,類縁は遠い。類球形の塊根がある。地表近くに,2枚の葉をロゼット状に展開する。花茎は10~20cm,7~8月,淡紅色の花を10個くらい一方側にかたよってつける。花は径5mm前後,萼片と花弁はかぶと状になる。唇弁は長さ1cm,3深裂する。7~8mmの前方へ曲がった距がある。旧大陸の亜寒帯に広く分布する。
