Piscis Austrinus (Southern Fish)

Japanese: みなみのうお座(南魚座) - みなみのうおざ（英語表記）Piscis Austrinus

Its abbreviation is PsA. It is an autumn constellation that follows Capricornus and Aquarius to the south. In Greek mythology, it resembles a fish when the goddess Aphrodite, chased by the monster Typhon, escapes by fleeing to the bottom of a river. The alpha star, Fomalhaut (meaning fish's mouth), has a luminosity of 1.2 magnitude and a spectral type of A3. In China, it was called "Hokurakushimon," the northern gate of the capital of Chang'an. In Japan, it is called "Minamino Hitotsuboshi." Its approximate position is at right ascension 22h0m and declination -32°. It reaches noon in the meridian at 8pm in mid-October. [Ishida Goro]
