This is the standard site for the culture of the same name, which is dated to the Neolithic period and was distributed mainly in Western Europe. It is located near the Strait of Dover in France. Very distinctive chipped stone axes have been found, and the remains of pit dwellings have also been discovered. Primitive pottery has also been found, but no polished stone tools. The site was discovered relatively early, in 1872, so it is also important from an academic history perspective.

西ヨーロッパを中心に分布する新石器時代に比定される同名の文化の標準遺跡。フランスのドーバー海峽近くに位置している。非常に特徴的な打製石斧をもち，竪穴住居址も発見されている。原初的な土器も発見されているが，磨製石器はない。遺跡の発見が 1872年と比較的早いので，学史的にも重要な遺跡である。
