A former town in Nasu County, in central-eastern Tochigi Prefecture. Located in the southern part of the Kitsuregawa Hills, the town is bordered by a main tributary of the Arakawa River. Rice is the main industry, but fruit and flower cultivation, dairy farming, and livestock raising are also carried out. The Karasuyama Line runs through the town, and it is home to the Fujimidai Industrial Park and a nature resort village. In October 2005, it merged with Karasuyama Town, Nasu County, to become a city, forming Nasukarasuyama City. Area: 81.56 km2 . Population: 13,349 (2003). 栃木県中東部,那須郡の旧町。喜連川(きつれがわ)丘陵南部に位置し,荒川の本支流が町域を流れる。米作を中心とするが,果樹,花卉(かき)の栽培,酪農,畜産なども行われる。烏山線が通じ,富士見台工業団地や自然休養村などがある。2005年10月,那須郡烏山町と合併し市制,那須烏山市となる。81.56km2。1万3349人(2003)。
