Southern Cross (Crux)

The abbreviation is Cru. A constellation centered on the Southern Cross along the Milky Way in the southern sky. In the Ptolemaic era, it was still part of Centaurus, and the Southern Cross was first drawn on the celestial globe of Emerie Mollineux of England in 1592, and was officially separated as a constellation in Augustin Royer's star atlas (1627). From α (a double star of magnitude 1.6 and 2.1, with a composite magnitude of 0.8) at the southern end, counterclockwise β (magnitude 1.3), γ (a double star of magnitude 1.6 and 6.4), δ (magnitude 2.8), and B-type bright stars form a cross, and ε (magnitude 3.6, K3 type) casts a point between δ and α, tightening the outline of the cross.
