In Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream, she is the queen of King Oberon, a tiny and graceful fairy queen so small that she can fit into an acorn shell. She is human-like, fighting with the king over ownership of a changeling and falling in love, but she has characteristics similar to the moon goddess. Ovid's Metamorphoses features a race of giants (Titans) born to Uranus (heaven) and Gaia (earth). One of these, the moon goddess Luna, sister of the sun god Sol, and Diana, who was identified with her, are called "Titan's daughter (Titania)."
