A town in Chichibu County in western Saitama Prefecture. The main settlement is located along the Arakawa River at the entrance to the Chichibu Basin, and is served by the Chichibu Railway. There is little flat land, so forestry, grapes, and shiitake mushrooms are cultivated. Minoyama Park is located in the south, and Nagatoro is located in the north. Area: 63.74 km2 . 埼玉県西部，秩父郡の町。主集落は荒川に沿い秩父盆地の入口を占め，秩父鉄道が通じる。平地が少なく，林業やブドウ・シイタケ栽培が行われる。南部の蓑山に美の山公園，北部に長瀞(ながとろ)がある。63.74km2。１万888人（2010）。
