〘Noun〙① A type of water clock. A copper pot with a small hole in the bottom is filled with water, and a graduated arrow is placed in the water to measure the time by the drop in the water level. A water clock . ※Ta Shikashu (around 892), Vol. 2, July, Seventh Generation Ushi-onna's Okiaki "The arrow flows and the Kanju Yearly Ceremony is held, but the copper pot is not allowed to be my parent one evening." [Gokkyo - Rakufu Shi] ② A copper vessel. A boiler for rubbing water into the side walls of a hearth or storing it in a brazier. By extension, it also refers to a metal container. ※Haiku poem, Sumi Tawara (1694), Vol. 2, "The paulownia trees spread beyond the wall (Momo-rin) I draw lukewarm water from the copper pot and use it (Noba)"
