Parent-child relationship

There are biological parent-child relationships based on a natural blood relationship (natural parent-child) and adoptive parent-child relationships based on legal parent-child relationships (legal parent-child), which are further divided into legitimate parent-child relationships and illegitimate parent-child relationships. Mother-child relationships, whether legitimate or illegitimate, arise from the fact of childbirth, but there is a presumption regarding legitimate father-child relationships (Civil Code Articles 772), and illegitimate father-child relationships arise from recognition (Articles 779 and 787). Adoptive parent-child relationships arise through adoption, and adopted children become the legitimate children of their adoptive parents from the date of adoption (Article 809). Parents have parental authority over minor children (Article 818), parents and children have a duty to support each other (Article 877), and each other is an heir (Articles 887 and 889).
