Mizosida - Mizosida

Japanese:
Mizosida - Mizosida
This is a summer-green fern of the Thelypteridaceae family (illustration), commonly found in mountains, fields, and shady roadside areas. Its Japanese name comes from the fact that it is often found near ditches. The rhizome runs long and horizontally, so the leaves often grow in clusters all over the place. The leaves do not grow upright, but can reach a length of 70 cm including the petiole. The petiole is densely hairy and sparsely scaled. The leaf surface, which is deeply pinnately lobed, is also densely hairy and dark green. The veins are simple, sometimes bifurcated, and reach the margins of the lobes, but do not form a meshwork.
