Born: January 13, 1887 in Dortmund
[Died] October 16, 1967, Göttingen German Protestant theologian. One of the leading figures in dialectical theology. He served as professor of systematic theology at the universities of Breslau and Göttingen. He had a strong existentialist tendency and advocated theological anthropology. He developed Luther's doctrine and advocated theology of secularization. His major works include I believe in the Triune God (1926), Man between God and the World (52), Demythologization and the Church (53), Fate and Hope of Modern Times: Secularization as a Theological Problem (53), The Reality of Faith (57), and Jesus Christ: Transformation of the World (66).
