Around 1470 - 1556
A Greek monk and religious thinker active in Russia. His real name was Mikhail Triboris. He studied in Italy and became a Catholic monk under the influence of the Dominican monk Savonarola and others, but converted to Eastern Orthodoxy after returning to Greece. While training on Mount Athos, he was invited by Grand Prince Vasily III of Moscow to go to Moscow in 1518, where he revised the church liturgical books and other works. He was deeply respected as a cultured monk, but he also expressed a ``non-possessing'' position, as represented by Nil Solsky.

ロシアで活動したギリシア人修道士，宗教思想家。俗名ミハイル･トリボリス。イタリアで学び，ドミニコ会士サボナローラなどの影響をうけてカトリックの修道士となったが，ギリシアに帰国後東方正教に改宗した。アトス山で修行中，1518年モスクワ大公ワシーリー3世に招かれてモスクワに赴き，教会典礼書の改訂などを行った。教養豊かな修道者として深い尊敬をうけたが，ニル･ソルスキーに代表される〈非保有派〉的立場を表明した。
