Japanese: 槙有恒 - まきありつね

Mountaineer. One of the pioneers of modern mountaineering in Japan. Born in Miyagi Prefecture. Graduated from Keio University. In September 1921, he was the first to climb the eastern ridge of the Eiger. In August 1925, he led a Japanese team to the summit of Alberta in the Canadian Rockies for the first time. He served as president of the Japanese Alpine Club twice, from 1944 to 1946 and from 1951 to 1955. In 1956, he led the Japanese team that successfully climbed Manaslu, and was selected as a Person of Cultural Merit in the same year. His books include "Mountaineering" (1923) and "Memories of an Ice Axe" (1958).

登山家。日本の近代登山開拓者の一人。宮城県出身。慶大卒。1921年９月アイガー東山稜を初登攀(とうはん)。1925年８月日本隊リーダーとしてカナディアン・ロッキーのアルバータに初登頂。1944年−1946年，1951年−1955年，日本山岳会会長を２度務めた。1956年マナスル登頂に成功した日本隊の隊長を務め，同年文化功労者に選ばれた。著書に《山行》（1923年），《ピッケルの思い出》（1958年）など。
