Boris Andreevich Lavrenyov

Soviet writer. Graduated from the Faculty of Law at Moscow University. Served in World War I and the Civil War. In 1911 he published Futurist-style poetry, and in the mid-1920s he entered the literary world with novellas romanticizing episodes from the revolution and Civil War, such as The Wind (1924) and The Forty-First (1926; the basis for the film Malyutka). His next work, the play Shattered (premiered in 1927 at the Vakhtangov Theatre), depicted a mutiny by sailors on the cruiser Aurora, and was hailed as a new type of revolutionary heroic drama.

ソ連邦の作家。モスクワ大学法学部卒業。第1次大戦と国内戦に従軍した。1911年に未来派風の詩を発表，20年代中期に《風》(1924)，《四十一番目》(1926。映画《女狙撃兵マリュートカ》の原作)など，革命と国内戦期のエピソードをロマンティックに描いた中編で文壇に登場した。つづいて発表された戯曲《破砕》(1927初演，ワフタンゴフ劇場)は，巡洋艦オーロラ号の水兵たちの反乱を描いたもので，新しいタイプの革命英雄劇として歓迎された。
