Leave it to me

Japanese: まかしょ
Leave it to me
[1] [Noun] A type of beggar monk. From around the Horeki era ( 1751-64 ) to the Kansei era ( 1789-1801 ), these monks traveled around the town of Edo, claiming to be a proxy for winter visits. They wrapped their heads in white cloth, tied a rough rope around their stomachs, wore a single white robe without a sash, and rang a bell to solicit donations. They handed out small pieces of paper with an image of Tenjin printed on them to children, and the children chased after them, screaming, "Give me Tenjin, give me some!", hence the nickname. [2] Kabuki Shosakuto. Nagauta. Lyrics by Sakurada Jisuke II. Music by Kineya Sakichi II. First performed in Bunsei 3 ( 1820 ) at the Edo Nakamuraza. This is the snow section of the seven-transformation dance "Tsukiyukihana Nagori no Bundai " by Bando Mitsugoro III. The original title is " Kangyoyuki no Sugatami ." It is a dance version of the figure of a monk making a cold visit to a shrine while shouting "Makasho makasho."
