Kazushi Okawa

Kazushi Okawa
1908-1993 An economist from the Showa era.
Born on November 16, 1908. Became a professor at Hitotsubashi University in 1950. Became the first director of the Economic Planning Agency's Economic Research Institute in 1958, and director of the Hitotsubashi University Institute of Economic Research in 1961. He studied Japan's economic growth and contributed to the development of long-term economic statistics. He served as chairman of the Rice Price Deliberation Council and participated in the formulation of agricultural policy and economic plans. In 1987, he was awarded the Person of Cultural Merit. He passed away on November 13, 1993, aged 84. He was from Shizuoka Prefecture and graduated from Tokyo Imperial University. His works include "An Analysis of the Japanese Economy: Growth and Structure."
