Izumi [village] - Izumi

Japanese: 和泉[村] - いずみ

A village in Ono County, eastern Fukui Prefecture. Population 824 (1995). Located at the upper reaches of the Kuzuryu River, it borders Gifu Prefecture. Most of the village area is mountainous, part of the Ryohaku Mountains, and the Kuzuryu River runs through the center of the village, with the Kuzuryu Dam Lake. In 1963, the entire former Kamianamaya village and the Nagano and Washi areas of the former Shimoanamaya village were submerged under the lake due to power development work along the Kuzuryu River. In 1966, all the houses in the Kotando and Satsura areas were relocated, resulting in a sharp decline in population. There are six dams, large and small, on each tributary. In the west, there was the Nakatatsu Mine, which produced lead and zinc, but it closed in 1987, and Adventureland Nakatatsu was opened on the site.

福井県東端，大野郡の村。人口824(1995)。九頭竜川の最上流部に位置し，岐阜県に接する。村域の大部分を両白山地に属する山地が占め，中央を九頭竜川が貫流し，九頭竜ダム湖がある。1963年九頭竜川電源開発工事のため，旧上穴馬（かみあなま）村の全域と旧下穴馬村の長野･鷲両地域が湖底に沈み，66年には小谷堂（こたんどう）･三面（さつら）両地域が全戸移住し人口が激減した。各支川には大小六つのダムがある。西部には鉛，亜鉛を産出する中竜（なかたつ）鉱山があったが87年閉山し，その跡地にアドベンチャーランド中竜が開設された。
