A city in southern Saitama prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1970. It spans the northeastern part of the Musashino Plateau and the alluvial lowlands on the west bank of the Arakawa River. It used to be a farming area, but since the 1960s, it has seen a rapid increase in automobile and food factories and housing, as well as the Tobu Tojo Line, Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line and Fukutoshin Line, and the Tokyo Outer Ring Expressway pass through it and it is located 15 km from the capital region.
