Japanese: ホンセイインコ(本青鸚哥) - ホンセイインコ

A general term for birds of the genus Psittacula in the family Psittacidae. A medium-sized parrot with an overall length of 35 to 50 cm. It has a long, wedge-shaped tail, green feathers, and many species have a daruma-like pattern on their faces, which is why some species are called "red-breasted parakeets." The beak (especially the upper beak) is generally red in males and black in females, but some species have red in both sexes. Twelve species are found in Africa, India, southern China, and Southeast Asia, and live in flocks in forests, secondary forests, and sparse woodlands, climbing branches with their beaks and legs to pick and eat fruit.

オウム目オウム科ホンセイインコ属Psittaculaの鳥の総称。全長35～50cmの中型のインコ。尾はくさび状で長く，羽色は全体に緑色で，多くの種では顔にだるま様の模様があり，このため一部の種はダルマインコの名をもつ。くちばし(とくに上くちばし)は一般に雄は赤色，雌は黒色だが，一部の種は雌雄とも赤い。アフリカ，インド，中国南部，東南アジアに12種が分布し，森林，二次林，疎林に群れをつくってすみ，くちばしと脚で枝をよじ登り，果実をとって食べる。
