Gītānjali (English spelling)

Japanese: ギーターンジャリ - ぎーたーんじゃり(英語表記)Gītānjali
Gītānjali (English spelling)

A collection of poems by the Indian poet Tagore. Published in 1910. Gita means song. Anjali means hands together in prayer, meaning "sung prayer." It is made up of 157 lyric poems written between 1906 and 1910, expressing his earnest desire to appeal to God, and the original poems have a beautiful, musical sound. They were highly praised by Yeats, Thomas Mann, Schweitzer, Gide, and others. The number of verses differs between the Bengali version and the English version (1912), and it is more appropriate to call it a rewrite in English rather than an English translation.
