In addition to this tradition, Jesus Christ himself addressed God intimately as "Father" and presented himself as His Son, and Jesus' disciples came to understand Jesus, who was sent by God as the Savior, as the Son of God in a special sense. At the same time, doctrinal speculation developed that Jesus, as the Son of God, was a divine being equal to God, and at the same time, the Son of God was understood as the second person in the triune God of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. From this, the name Son of God became a name for Jesus Christ that included semantic expressions such as Jesus' intimate union with God the Father, Christ's superhuman and divine nature, and his existence as a triune God.
