This is an Angkor period temple ruin located in the Dangrek Mountains, which run along the border with Thailand in northern Cambodia. The area became part of French Cambodia in 1904 under the Franco-Siamese (Thai) Treaty, but was occupied by Thailand during World War II, which led to a border dispute between the two countries. The temple was founded by Yasovarman I at the end of the 9th century, and expanded and improved by Suryavarman I in the first half of the 11th century. Vishnu is the main deity. The main entrance to the temple is to the west, and an approach road (848m long, 12m wide) has been built taking advantage of the gently sloping natural terrain.
