…A representative Chinese literary figure of the late Tang Dynasty. Born in Jingzhaowanian (Shaanxi Province). His grandfather Duyou served as prime minister and is also famous as the author of the political system history "Tongdian". He was a Jinshi in the second year of the Taihe era (828) and served as governor of each province, eventually becoming a Zhongshu Sheren. He is often considered a typical example of a man of refined talent because of his seven-character quatrain "Jianhuai", which sings, "After ten years, I wake up from my dream of Yangzhou, and I have won the name of the blue mansion." However, his keen awareness of reality, which reflects his rigid political stance, runs through many of his works, such as "Fu to the Epang Palace." He was also interested in military science and left an annotation on "The Art of War." …
