A city in the Republic of Croatia facing the Adriatic Sea. Population approximately 4,300. Ancient name Parentium. Until 1947 it was part of Italy, and its Italian name is Parenzo. Built by the Romans in the 1st century BC. The Byzantine cathedral built by Bishop Euphrasius in the 6th century is a valuable example in art history that has been well preserved from the time, with stucco work, capital sculptures, and mosaics decorating the interior and exterior walls.
