[1] (Noun) The meaning of the three treasures. ① A Buddhist term. The Buddha, the scriptures that explain the Buddha’s teachings, and the monks who spread those teachings. Also refers to the teachings of the Buddha and the Buddhist law. Without the power of the Three Treasures, it would be difficult to save him or put him under control." *Man'yoshu (late 8th century), 5 - A letter of lamentation upon one's own illness, "Therefore, I bow twice to the Three Treasures, and never fail to serve every day, <omitted> I pay twice my respects to the hundred gods, and two nights are without a trace.
