[1] (Noun) The meaning of the three treasures. ① A Buddhist term. The Buddha, the scriptures that explain the Buddha’s teachings, and the monks who spread those teachings. Also refers to the teachings of the Buddha and the Buddhist law. Three deities. ※The Chronicles (720), Yomei 2nd year, April (Kitano version , Nanboku-cho period) “I wish to return to the Three Treasures . Please discuss this matter.” (Amida Sutra) ② Another name for the Buddha. *Nihon Shoki (720), June of the 14th year of the reign of Emperor Bidatsu, "My servant has been ill and has not yet recovered . Without the power of the Three Treasures, it would be difficult to save him or put him under control." *Man'yoshu (late 8th century), 5 - A letter of lamentation upon _one's own illness, "Therefore, I bow _twice to the Three Treasures, and never fail _{to serve} _every day, <omitted> I pay _twice my respects to the _hundred gods, and _two nights _{are without a trace.} " ③ (From "Mencius - Jinshin no Ha" in "Mencius: Mencius said, "The three treasures of the nobles are land, people and politics. _These _two treasures are jewels and gems, and they will surely _prosper oneself.") Hepburn's "Waei-go Rin-shusei (First Edition)" also uses sambō. Examples of sanpō are hard to find in literature, but can be found scattered among the dialects of western Japan.
