Japanese: ホレばあさん（英語表記）Frau Holle

A figure from central Germany's legends, centered on Mount Meissner in Hesse, who is said to have a beautiful white figure or an ogress-like appearance with protruding teeth. There are many legends about the weather, such as "When Granny Holle shakes off the covers, it snows," a legend about her checking the cleanliness and tidiness of the house and the work of spinning girls, and a legend about her leading witches and madwomen through the woods in the middle of the night, and many other elements that share the same features as the southern German Bercht legend. There is also a typical Granny Holle in the Grimm fairy tales.

ヘッセンのマイスナーMeissner山を中心とする中部ドイツの伝説の人物で，白く美しい姿とも歯のつき出た鬼婆のような容貌ともいう。〈ホレばあさんが(ベッドの)布団をはらうと雪が降る〉など天候に関する伝説，家内の清潔整頓ぶりや糸紡ぎの娘たちの仕事ぶりを調べ賞罰を与える伝説，真夜中あるいは森の中を魔女･狂女を率いて走り過ぎるという伝説があり，南ドイツのベルヒトBercht伝説と共通する要素が多い。グリム童話にもホレばあさんの典型がある。
