Company town (English spelling)

Japanese: company town(英語表記)companytown
Company town (English spelling)

...This refers to a city that was formed in conjunction with the development of a company during the development of modern mining and manufacturing, and that company has a great political, economic, and social influence on the local community. This term is similar to the castle towns that were formed when feudal lords built their castles and their vassals, merchants, and craftsmen gathered there, and in English they are called company towns. For example, in the United States, there are Gary (US Steel) in Indiana and Pullman (now part of Chicago) in Illinois.

From 【Village】

...Newly built housing estates are communities with weak blood ties and local ties. A town where one large company is located and most of the residents are somehow related to that company is called a company town, and this can be said to be a community with strong professional ties.
[Settlement size and distribution]
Because settlement size is closely related to population density and varies from country to country and region to region, attempts have been made by the International Working Group on Terminology of Rural Landscapes and by geographers of certain countries to group together a number of categories based on function and size from a global perspective.
