Born on July 31, 1887. In 1937, he participated in the capture of Nanjing as the commander of the 36th Infantry Brigade. In 1939, he became a lieutenant general. In 1944, he became the commander of the 32nd Army and was assigned to Okinawa, where he was cornered by the U.S. Army at the southernmost tip of Okinawa Island, and committed suicide on June 23, 1945. He was 59 years old. He was promoted to general. He was from Kagoshima Prefecture. He graduated from the Army War College.
