...Kichisaburo, a ruffian who lived in front of Kichijoji Temple, encouraged Oshichi to set fire to the temple in order to take advantage of the situation. As the story was featured in Saikaku's Amorous Five Women (1686), Joruri and Kabuki, the great fire in 1682 in which Oshichi was forced to burn came to be dramatized as a fire that Oshichi had set, and it came to be called the Oshichi Fire.
