Born on January 6, 1861. Moved to the United States in 1888. Developed a swamp in Stockton, California, and succeeded in mass-producing potatoes. He was called the "Potato King." As the first president of the Japanese Society in America, he dealt with anti-Japanese sentiment. Died on March 27, 1926. Age 63. Born in Chikugo (Fukuoka Prefecture).
