Born: May 7, 1676 in Izquiterra [Died] March 17, 1748. Turin. Italian historian and jurist. A representative theorist of natural law thought who thoroughly denied the secular power of the Pope. He advocated political independence from church power, and was persecuted by the papacy, leading to his exile abroad. After returning to the country, he was arrested and died in prison.
