An office for storing documents during the Joseon Dynasty (Yi Dynasty) in Korea. Also called the Cabinet. It was originally established in the 20th year of King Sukjong's reign (1694). In the year of King Jeongjo's accession to the throne (1776), a building was built called Gyujanggak, and by the end of the Joseon Dynasty it had become a bureau of the Royal Palace. It managed the poems, handwriting, orders, posthumous teachings, and sanpu of past kings. It also preserved and reprinted Chinese classics. After the Japan-Korea Annexation, its collection was transferred to the Government-General's Office and then to Keijo University. 朝鮮,朝鮮王朝 (李朝) 時代の文書保管の署。内閣ともいう。初めは粛宗 20 (1694) 年に基礎が成立。正祖即位の年 (1776) に一閣を立て奎章閣と称し,朝鮮王朝末期には宮内府の一部局となった。歴代国王の詩文,筆跡,顧命,遺教,瓚譜などを管理。ほかに中国古典の保存,複刻などを行なった。日韓併合後その蔵書は総督府,次いで京城大学に移された。
