? - c.643 A ruler of the early Western Chalukya dynasty in India. Reigned c.610-c.643. He killed his uncle Maṅgaleśa to quell the civil war, and after ascending to the throne, he expanded his kingdom by subjugating the smaller powers on all sides. He is famous for preventing the invasion of the Deccan by King Harshavardhana, who was the hegemon of northern India at the time, and it is said that an envoy was sent from Khosrow II of Persia. It was during this king's reign that Xuanzang traveled around India, writing about the fertile land of the kingdom, the thriving agriculture, and the simple yet brave nature of the people.

インドの前期西チャールキヤ朝の君主。在位610ころ‐643年ころ。叔父のマンガレーシャMaṅgaleśaを殺して内乱を鎮静し，王位に就くと四方の群小勢力を服属させて王国を拡大した。当時北インドで覇を唱えていたハルシャ･バルダナ王のデカン侵攻を阻止したのは有名で，ペルシアのホスロー2世からも使節が送られたといわれている。玄奘がインド各地を歴訪したのもこの王の時で，王国の土地が肥沃で農業の盛んなこと，人びとの素朴で勇猛な性情などを書き残している。
