[1] 〘名〙一家が代々その寺の宗旨に帰依(きえ)して、そこに墓所を定め、葬式を営み、法事などを依頼する寺。一家が代々菩提を求める寺。菩提院。檀那(だんな)寺。氏寺。香華院。※九暦‐九暦抄・天暦元年（947）九月一九日「依_二大臣慶_一参_二菩提寺_一拝賀事」[2][一] 大阪市天王寺区生玉寺町にある浄土宗の寺。山号は東陽山。境内の観音堂は大阪三十三所の第一九番札所。[二] 京都の東山の一峰、阿彌陀峰の南方にあった寺。[三] 奈良県高市郡明日香村にある橘寺(たちばなでら)の正称。
