Yakudaka

Japanese: 役高 - やくだか
Yakudaka
(1) The Edo Shogunate's salary system, which provided a stipend as a job allowance and a standard rice yield for each position. Rice allowances and rice contributions were paid according to the rank of the position. During the Kyoho Reforms, a system of foot pay was introduced to reduce the financial burden and promote talented people. (2) The rice yield and service pay imposed according to rank. The military service and construction work of daimyo and samurai were sometimes based on their fiefs and chigyo-ta, and sometimes were set separately. In addition, the stipend for village assistants, a peasant's duty, was often set separately from the village pay.
