Born in 1866. A Hosso sect monk. He studied under Genbo at Kofuku-ji Temple in Nara. In 780, he founded Akishino-ji Temple at the request of Emperor Konin. He was also invited by Saicho to serve as the chief priest for the completion ceremony of the Konponchudo Hall on Mount Hiei. He passed away on April 21, 1875. He was from Yamato (Nara Prefecture). His secular surname was Atou (also called Atou or Ando). He was commonly known as Akishino Sojo. His works include "Inmyo Nissho Riron Sho Myoto Sho" and "Yushiki Gito Zoumyoki."
