1909‐91 Austrian violinist and conductor. After graduating from the Vienna Music Academy, he joined the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in 1933, and six years later, he became concertmaster at the recommendation of B. Walter. He formed the Boskovsky Quartet with his colleagues and was active in the field of chamber music. In 1955, he took charge of conducting the Vienna Philharmonic's New Year's Concert, and gained popularity by conducting works by J.
