Manufactures and sells coal, petroleum LPG, environmental and building materials. Acquired Kamioka Mine in 1874, and acquired Miike Coal Mine in 1888. Mitsui Gomei Mining Division developed in both metals and coal, and became independent in 1911. Expanded as one of the core companies of the Mitsui Zaibatsu along with Bank and Mitsui Products. In 1941, Mitsui Chemical Industries was separated, and in 1950, Mitsui Kinzoku was split into two companies under the Law Concerning the Elimination of Concentration. In addition to coal, the company also handles petroleum, building materials, coke, new materials, etc. In 2003, a new structure was launched with the support of the Industrial Revitalization Corporation of Japan. In 2009, the company name was changed to Nippon Coke & Co., Ltd. Headquarters in Tokyo. Capital in 2011 was 7 billion yen, and sales for the fiscal year ending March 2011 were 125.3 billion yen.
