…There are several mountain ranges on the Brazilian Plateau called sera or chapadas. The Apodi and Araripe mountains in the northeast, as well as many chapadas in the western states of Mato Grosso, Goiás, and Bahia. The Serra do Mar coastal mountain range stretching from Rio de Janeiro to São Paulo and Santos, and the Mantiqueira mountain range inland facing the Paraiba do Sul River are both sera.
