This is a special library that preserves and manages ancient documents, records, and classics that have been passed down for many years to the Konoe family, the main line of the Northern Fujiwara clan and one of the five regent families. It was established as a foundation in 1938 (Showa 13) by Konoe Fumimaro in its current location in Utanokaminotani-cho, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City. "Yomei" is another name for the Konoe family. Due to their lineage, most of the Konoe family members held important positions such as regents and chancellors, and placed importance on the Byodo, so they inevitably accumulated a huge amount of records and documents. In addition, the Konoe family produced many outstanding figures in the academic and literary fields during the medieval and early modern periods. These generations left behind many of their own works, such as poetry, waka, and linked verse, and also worked to pass on literary materials by copying and collecting surviving versions of stories, song books, and commentaries. In addition, generations of the Konoe family made efforts to preserve these records, including quickly evacuating them during wars such as the Onin War (1467-1477). Fortunately, they were not scattered or damaged, and as a result, they became a huge treasure trove of court noble historical materials unparalleled in both quality and quantity.

The museum's collection includes 200,000 items, including eight national treasures and 52 important cultural properties. Representative items include the Mido Kanpakuki (the diary of Fujiwara no Michinaga) and the Gonijo Kanpakuki (the diary of Fujiwara no Moromichi), historical records of successive Kanpaku, such as the Gonijo Kanpakuki (the diary of Fujiwara no Moromichi), historical materials related to manors such as the Miyata no Sho documents, literature related materials such as the Jukan Hon Utaawase (10-volume Poetry Contest), Ruiju Utaawase (Poetry Contest), and Koto Kafu (Kinkafu), as well as the Ote Kagami (a collection of over 300 ancient calligraphy pieces), and ancient calligraphy names such as the Wakan Sho (a collection of Japanese-Chinese poems) and Kumano Kaishi (a collection of Kumano Kaishi). In addition, the Yangming Library has published reproductions of the collection, including the "Yangming Series: National Letters Volume," "The Yangming Series: Records Volume," "National Treasure Mirror," and "Yangming Treasures of Calligraphy."
