Hibikinada

It is an area in the southwestern part of the Sea of ​​Japan, limited to the western part of Yamaguchi Prefecture on the east side and the northern part of Fukuoka Prefecture on the south side, and continues to the Genkai Nada Sea at the border of Oshima (Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture). The water is less than 80 meters deep, and the Tsushima Warm Current flows northeast, and the areas around Tsunoshima, Futaoijima, Ainoshima, Mutsurejima, Oshima, and Jinoshima are good fishing grounds for mackerel, squid, and yellowtail. The southeastern corner of the Hibiki Nada Sea is the western entrance to the Kanmon Straits, where domestic and international shipping routes converge, and the coasts of Kitakyushu City and Shimonoseki City form a heavy chemical industrial zone. The northwesterly winter monsoon is strong, and there are many shipwrecks. In addition, wind-driven sand dunes have developed in various coastal areas, such as Tsunoshima, Yatsugahama, Yasuoka Beach, and Sanri Matsubara.

日本海南西部の海域で、東側は山口県西部、南側は福岡県北部で限られ、大島（福岡県宗像(むなかた)市）を境に玄界(げんかい)灘に続く。水深は80メートル以浅で、対馬(つしま)暖流が北東流し、角島(つのしま)、蓋井島(ふたおいじま)、藍島(あいのしま)、六連島(むつれじま)、大島、地島(じのしま)などの周辺はサバ、イカ、ブリなどの好漁場となっている。響灘の南東隅は関門海峡西口で、内外の航路が集中し、北九州市、下関(しものせき)市沿岸は重化学工業地帯を形成する。冬季北西季節風が強く、船舶の座礁事故が多い。また、角島や八ヶ浜(やつがはま)、安岡海岸、三里松原など沿岸各地に風成砂丘が発達している。
