A district in the eastern part of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina. A port district overlooking the Rio de la Plata, with many Italian residents. It is the oldest district in the city and still retains the appearance of an old port town and fishing village. It is also known as the birthplace of tango, and the street in the center, lined with houses painted in primary colors such as red, vermilion, and blue, is called Caminito Street (meaning "little path" in Spanish) after the name of a famous tango song, and attracts tourists.
