Kahokugata

A lagoon in the center of Ishikawa Prefecture. It borders Kanazawa City, Tsubata Town in Kahoku County, Kahoku City, and Uchinada Town. Before reclamation, its area was 21.6 square kilometers, with a maximum depth of 2.0 meters. The Uchinada Sand Dunes developed on the west side, and the Asano, Kanakusari, Morimoto, Tsubata, and Unoke Rivers flow into it, draining into the Sea of ​​Japan via the Ono River. In addition to lagoon fishing, boat transport was once popular from the Ono Port at the mouth of the river, and heavy rains often flooded the surrounding rice fields, causing damage. It is known for the reclamation incident by Zeniya Gohee at the end of the Edo period, but in 1971 (Showa 46), the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (now the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) drained almost two-thirds of the land, and field crops and dairy farming are carried out there. A spillway was created by cutting through the sand dunes. It currently has an area of ​​4.1 square kilometers, a length of 15 kilometers, and a maximum depth of 5.4 meters. It is used for fishing, yachting, and as a lumber yard.

石川県中央部にある潟湖。金沢市、河北郡津幡(つばた)町、かほく市、内灘(うちなだ)町に接する。干拓前の面積21.6平方キロメートル、最大深度2.0メートル。西側に内灘砂丘が発達し、浅野、金腐(かなくさり)、森下(もりもと)、津幡、宇ノ気川などが流入し、大野川で日本海に排水する。かつて潟漁業のほか、河口の大野港から舟運が発達し、大雨時はよく周辺水田に冠水し被害を与えた。幕末の銭屋五兵衛(ぜにやごへえ)の埋立て事件で知られるが、1971年（昭和46）農林省（現、農林水産省）によりほぼ3分の2が干陸され、畑作、酪農が営まれている。砂丘を切り放水路ができ、現在面積は4.1平方キロメートル、延長15キロメートル、最大深度5.4メートルで、釣り、ヨット、貯木場などに利用されている。
