This is the common name for Mangetsu-ji Temple, a temple of the Daitoku-ji school of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism located in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Its mountain name is Kaimon-san. It is built as if it is floating on Lake Biwa. It is said to have been built by Genshin in the Heian period for the safety of ships passing through and the salvation of all living beings.
