Ukimido

Japanese: 浮御堂 - ウキミドウ

This is the common name for Mangetsu-ji Temple, a temple of the Daitoku-ji school of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism located in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Its mountain name is Kaimon-san. It is built as if it is floating on Lake Biwa. It is said to have been built by Genshin in the Heian period for the safety of ships passing through and the salvation of all living beings. It is one of the Eight Views of Omi, Katata Katada It is famous for its "Rakugan" (rakugan sweets). The Thousand Buddhas Hall. The Ukimido Hall of Katata.

滋賀県大津市にある臨済宗大徳寺派の寺、満月寺の通称。山号は海門山。琵琶湖上に浮かんだように建てられている。平安時代、源信が通船の安全と衆生済度のために建立したと伝えられる。近江八景の一つ「堅田かただの落雁」で有名。千体仏堂。堅田の浮御堂。
