Orizume-dake

A mountain located in the northern part of Iwate Prefecture, on the border between Ninohe City and Kunohe County. It is 852 meters above sea level. It is a hill-shaped mountain made of sedimentary rock belonging to the Paleozoic strata. At the summit is Yamaori Daigongen, which enshrines the god of rain, and there is a television broadcast tower, a campsite, and a parking lot. It offers a panoramic view of Mt. Iwate, Hachimantai, the Hakkoda mountain range, and Hachinohe Port, and is designated as Orizume Basenkyo Prefectural Natural Park. There is a bus service part way from Ninohe Station on the JR Tohoku Shinkansen line.

岩手県北部、二戸市(にのへし)と九戸(くのへ)郡の境界にある山。標高852メートル。丘状の山で、古生層に属する水成岩からなる。山頂には雨乞(あまご)いの神を祀(まつ)る山居大権現(やまおりだいごんげん)があり、テレビ中継塔、キャンプ場などがあり、駐車場が整備されている。岩手山、八幡平(はちまんたい)、八甲田(はっこうだ)連山、八戸(はちのへ)港を一望でき、折爪馬仙峡(ばせんきょう)県立自然公園に指定されている。JR東北新幹線二戸駅から途中までバス便がある。
