Boyle-Charles' law

This law states that the relationship pV / T = constant holds between the pressure p , volume V , and absolute temperature T of a constant amount of gas. Also known as the Boyle–Gay-Lussac law, it is a combination of Boyle's law and Charles' law. A gas for which this law holds is called an ideal gas. Furthermore, pV = nRT for n moles of gas is called the equation of state for an ideal gas. The constant R is a universal constant called the gas constant. As this equation only holds approximately for real gases, modified versions such as the van der Waals equation of state and the Virial equation have been proposed.

一定量の気体の圧力 p ，体積 V ，絶対温度 T の間には関係式 pV/T＝一定が成り立つという法則。ボイル＝ゲイリュサックの法則ともいい，ボイルの法則とシャルルの法則とを結合した法則である。この法則が成り立つ気体を理想気体という。また，n モルの気体について pV＝nRT を理想気体の状態方程式という。定数 R は気体定数と呼ばれる普遍定数である。この式は実在の気体では近似的にしか成り立たないので，これを修正したファン・デル・ワールスの状態方程式，ビリアル式などが提案されている。
