Around 1844 - 1910 He was one of the leading constitutionalist ulama in Tehran during the Iranian Constitutional Revolution (1905-11). During the tobacco boycott movement, he was critical of the boycott, but was actively involved in the constitutional movement. In the First Assembly (1906-08), he took a seat representing the Jews. In the subsequent Second Assembly (1909-11), he had a hidden influence on the moderates, but was assassinated by his opponents.
