A former town in Kagawa County, central Kagawa Prefecture. Occupying the lowlands on the right bank of the Koto River south of Takamatsu City, rice, wheat, and tobacco are cultivated using reservoir irrigation, and floriculture and poultry farming are thriving. There are many people commuting to Takamatsu City, and the number of housing complexes and houses is increasing rapidly. In January 2006, it was incorporated into Takamatsu City along with Aji Town, Mure Town, Konan Town, and Kokubunji Town in Kida County. 27.33 ^km2 . Population: 24,802 (2003).

香川県中部，香川郡の旧町。高松市の南の香東(こうとう)川右岸低地を占め，溜池灌漑(ためいけかんがい)による米・麦・葉タバコ栽培のほか，花卉(かき)園芸，養鶏が盛ん。高松市への通勤者が多く，団地や住宅の増加が著しい。2006年１月木田郡庵治町，牟礼町，香川郡香南町，綾歌郡国分寺町と高松市へ編入。27.33km²。２万4802人（2003）。
