[Tailoring method]
Mulberry trees are tall trees, but to make harvesting easier and to obtain a uniform yield every year, it is necessary to shape the tree into a consistent shape and produce many branches. The method for doing this is called training, and there are two types of training: fist training, in which the branches are cut back at a consistent height every year to create a fist-like shape on the stump, and non-fist training, in which the branches are cut back leaving a consistent length and no fist is created.

仕立法と収穫法のことで，クワの樹形を管理しその葉を収穫する方法をいう。
［仕立法］
　クワは高木性であるが，収穫を容易にし，毎年均一な収穫量をうるためには，樹形を一定の形にととのえ，多くの枝を発生させる必要がある。このための方法を仕立てと呼んでいるが，仕立法には一定の高さで毎年枝を切り戻し，株にこぶし状に肥大した拳（けん）をつくる拳式仕立てと，枝を切り戻すときに一定の長さの枝を残して切り，拳をつくらない無拳式仕立てとがある。
